Eve Gil
Eve Gil is a Polish-Welsh visual artist and designer, working primarily within the realms of sustainable fashion. Her main sources of inspiration are heritage, everyday moments, the natural world, and political and social issues, she endeavours to engage the viewer and encourage them to consider the subjects presented in a deeper or new way. As an artist and designer, her focus is strongly on sustainability. She creates the majority of her pieces using upcycled and recycled materials, patchworked, embroidered and collaged together to form something new, creating a final piece with both a history and a future.
My passion
She is a dedicated community artist, along with being an artist and designer, as she believes that the power of textile is one best created communally. She works extensively with embroidery, solo and collaboratively, as a artistic medium and as a fashion technique both, using it to present many different projects and ideas, and to delve between the lines of ‘art’ ‘craft’ and ‘fashion’ and creating pieces that live and thrive in the grey area with those lines.
